STARVING THE BEAST.  HOW LAZY CAN YOU GET?

Starving the Beast is a political strategy that chokes the amount of revenue going into the government's bank account by cutting taxes.  The theory is that by cutting taxes, Congress will be forced to cut spending.

First of all, if Republicans during the Trump era think they won with this strategy, they are completely delusional.  They certainly got the tax cut part of the strategy down by passing their irresponsible and extremely expensive tax cuts, but they forgot the other (and most important) half of the equation.  Clearly, not having enough revenue means nothing to the United States Congress...lack of revenue hasn't slowed that bunch down one bit.  Spending was already out of control, but Trump-era Republicans made deficit spending an art form — as has the Biden administration.  As a result, we are drowning in debt.

But beyond all that, we find this strategy to be spineless and more than a little lazy.  Not that we don't think our government wastes serious money.  We absolutely do.  Just read the rest of this section!  But ours is not a Republican-esque rant about the size of government because theirs is a misguided argument.  Contrary to popular belief, size does not necessarily equal efficiency.  Just because the government is smaller doesn’t mean it will automatically run more effectively. Some of the largest of companies run like a well-oiled machine while some of the smallest of companies are management disasters.

It’s not about size.  It’s about efficiency.  If we focus on being efficient, our government will be exactly the size it needs to be — and you don't get there successfully by using the slash & burn method.  You get there by implementing a smart reduction strategy in order to appropriately tighten the cost structure.  Which is what Operation Overhaul is all about!  This policy reduces costs, maximizes value and improves performance by strengthening operational strategies, building an effective organizational structure and demanding accountability.  Plus, it removes redundancy, unlocks hidden value by eliminating waste, establishes clear channels of reporting and responsibility and gets the most out of government employees.  We can do this America!
