Emily Mathews is the Founder & Chairman of 1787. She has been a management consultant and business/policy strategist for over two decades.

 

Born and raised in Jasper, Texas, Emily returned to her childhood home in 2004 and was a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, a highly anticipated campaign that was ultimately a casualty of the state's bitter redistricting fiasco. During the campaign, Emily witnessed firsthand the unraveling of our political system, but also became convinced that it is entirely possible to repair shattered hopes, restore honorable motivation, and renew the American spirit.

 

Emily is a summa cum laude graduate of St. Edwards University in Austin. She holds a master's degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University and a master's degree in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School.

Emily loves to travel, visiting over 80 countries, and is obsessed with creating both foreign and domestic policy. She divides her time between East Texas and Washington, D.C.
